Hundreds of Supporters Turn out for HQ Grand Opening

(Honolulu, HI) Incumbent gubernatorial candidate David Ige hosted an overflow crowd of supporters, volunteers, distinguished guests and legislators for the grand opening of the David Ige for Governor Campaign Headquarters in Honolulu on Sunday. The event began with a blessing of the headquarters and the untying of the maile lei. Governor Ige and his wife Dawn Ige, greeted guests one by one before addressing the entire crowd of supporters and members of the media.

“I am truly humbled and honored by your support from everyone here today, including from those who support me from each of our amazing neighbor islands. I am running for a second term for the Governor of the State of Hawaii because while our administration and our state has made great strides over the last four years, our work here is not done. We have seen marked improvements in our infrastructure, expanded educational opportunities, strengthened our economy, and now have the highest employment rate in the country. But, there is so much more to do to ensure a better life for all of our citizens, a better experience for all our visitors, and most importantly, a blueprint for protecting our keikiʻs future for generations to come. Your support and vision has guided us over the last four years, and that same support and vision will help us win in November.

My administration has worked tirelessly to make campaign promises made in 2014 a reality today for all of Hawai‘i, and as voters are beginning to see and feel the effect of our accomplishments, it is more important that ever to have consistent leadership and a path forward focused on our shared growth and not on individual political aspirations. Hawaii deserves a Governor who truly cares about our people, our culture, and our future and one who puts politics aside and gets the job done. Thatʻs what I stand for and those values will never waver. With your help, we are going to win this election,” Ige said to cheering supporters.

Governor Ige, wife Dawn, and other campaign supporters also addressed attendees and encouraged them to volunteer with the campaignʻs growing momentum. Supporters interested in helping with the David Ige for Governor campaign are encouraged to visit DavidIge.org, email [email protected] or stop by the headquarters at 1803 N.
