Governor Ige and his administration have been very supportive of the hospitality industry, and always accessible to our members. His leadership on tourism was reflected on how he heard our views on a potentially harmful resort fee bill and subsequently vetoed it. His administration’s stand on the as-yet-unresolved transient vacation rentals issue, which is a top priority for HLTA, closely mirrors ours. Moving forward, we anticipate collaborating more with the governor on ways in which we can continue to provide jobs for the 200,000-plus people who are dependent on tourism for their livelihoods and healthy quality of life.

Governor Ige has a formidable record of support for clean energy in Hawaii. He opposed the takeover of the Hawaiian Electric Company by NextEra, opposed the development of liquified natural gas (LNG), and led the effort to enact the state’s commitment to a 100% renewable energy by 2045

Governor Ige is committed to bringing renewable energy to Hawaii. He understands that renewable resources like solar are not a risk, but an imperative. The Hawaii Solar Energy Association is proud to endorse Governor Ige’s leadership and clean energy for another four years.

"Governor Ige has proven to us that he hears our voice and has our back because he shares our values. He understands our particular concerns about such issues as energy independence and climate change; rat lung-worm disease and rapid ‘ohi’a death; the importance of banning toxic chemical use and invasive species to protect human health and our native endemic species. He has knowledge of, and support for the environmental issues unique to Hawai’i Island like no other Governor before him nor either of the other candidates for governor have.

Governor Ige has shown up for community meetings, in Volcano and throughout the island, made special trips to the Puna District to assess and address the disastrous effects of the current lava eruptions and secured federal funds for relief. He is humble, straight-forward and honest and believes in legislation intended to preserve and strengthen local culture and environmental integrity. Because he is an engineer, he has the ability to separate emotion and corporate monied interests from the realities of how things actually work and makes decisions based on what is best in the long run for the people and environment of Hawai’i.

We trust him as a person and as our state’s leader, and wholeheartedly support David Ige for Governor.”

Americans for Democratic Action - Hawai'i Chapter - endorses David Ige for re-election as our Governor. He has been aligned with our policy goals to defend civil rights, support medical aid in dying, increasing educational resources, opposing NextEra's attempt to take-over Hawaii's electrical generating facilities; he agrees that we need to rid our coral reefs of oxybenzone, that we need to make our tax system more fair, and that we need to alleviate our very critical housing problems.

"Our Board is concerned about social and economic justice. We believe that Governor David Ige is the better candidate to defend these values against the opposing corporate interests."

This election is crucial to our children’s future because the next ten years offer the last opportunity to prevent the worst of climate change from ravaging our island home. We need a dramatic shift in the way we produce our electricity, fuel our vehicles, feed our people, and run our economy if our children are going to enjoy a healthy, happy adulthood.

David Ige gets this and is fighting for it. His quiet, understated manner makes David an unlikely choice to lead a revolution. But his leadership is so effective, his vision for the future so powerful, that he has become just that -- a revolutionary leader -- for Hawaiʻi and the world.

David Ige is calmly confronting the instability and injustice of the Trump Administration and effectively standing up for what is right and fair for all of us. He is objectively assessing the very real, very scary threats of climate change and methodically plotting a course to avoid them.

Thanks to David’s leadership: we will Be off fossil fuels ahead of schedule Our economy will soon capture more carbon than it emits And Governors throughout the U.S. are banding together as the U.S. Climate Alliance to combat global warming despite the climate deniers in the Trump Administration.

Local 5 is endorsing Governor Ige in his re-election campaign because he has been loyal to Hawaii's working families. We saw this when he vetoed a bad Airbnb bill. If it had passed, it would have allowed illegal vacation rentals to overrun our state and take away what little affordable housing is left for locals. He shot down the NextEra merger with Hawaiian Electric, which would have been disastrous for working families who already pay way too much for utilities and can't afford to pay more.

Our endorsement is based upon Governor Igeʻs fiscal responsibility and support of local jobs for local people during his years of public service. His leadership has resulted in Hawai‘i having an AA+ bond rating, the highest bond rating in the state’s history, which saves our taxpayers millions of dollars in interest costs. This provides the needed safety resources and measures should there be another economic crisis. Financial security is crucial to the well-being of our state, and we believe Governor David Ige is the best candidate to sustain our well-being and guide our future.

Governor Ige is a man of action, answering the citizens’ call for more government accountability by increasing oversight in government contracts and cracking down on tax fraud, saving the state more than $268 million. He has modernized state information systems to increase efficiency in the areas of taxation, human resources, and workers compensation.

Governor Ige has tackled the issue of affordable housing. He recognizes that the housing issue is multi-faceted and has transitioned people off the streets into living situations that are safe and financially manageable. Apart from his initiatives on the economy, affordable housing, and government accountability, he remains focused on community health, environment, agriculture, education, transportation, and our cultural history.

“Governor Ige is the people’s candidate,” said UPW State Director Dayton M. Nakanelua. “Governor Ige is a well-rounded candidate and his record speaks for itself. He understands and has a practical knowledge of what it takes to move Hawaii forward in the 21st century.”

David Ige is a leader for Hawaii in education.

Thanks to him, Hawaii is the first state in then nation to have strict gun laws, which make our schools safer for the students, faculty and staff.

For decades, children have suffered in classrooms where temperatures sometimes exceed 100 degrees. Governor Ige cooled more than 1,300 classrooms, creating a conducive environment for our children to learn and retain the necessary skills to move forward with their curriculum.

Our teachers now have the their well-deserved pay raise, thanks to Governor Ige. He negotiated with us and found a compromise that works for the state, DOE, and for our teachers.

It is a privilege for the HSTA to recommend Governor David Ige for a second term.

There are significant construction projects that we attribute to the Governor. Airport modernizations, Kapalama Container Terminal, Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility at Kahului Airport and working closely with the military ensures our labor force maintains long-term employment opportunities.

Major projects like these were dormant under previous administrations but it took a leader like David Ige to activate them. Governor Ige has demonstrated his commitment to the people by actions instead of promises. The members of Ironworkers Local 625 are proud to endorse him for a second-term.

David has demonstrated his commitment to the well-being of the labor force in Hawaii. He understands that workers need good paying jobs to support our families. His collaborative style brings all parties together to find the needed solutions for today’s challenges and renewed hope for the future. When a candidate has the ability to bring together organized labor, the private sector, and community organizations, this represents true leadership. That is why we are wholeheartedly endorsing David.

As a former Lieutenant Governor and Governor of our great State, I am well aware of the demands placed on someone in high office. Being very familiar with David Ige as our State's chief executive, I have every confidence that he is the right choice in the upcoming election. Although David has faced many controversial issues in his first term, he has not shied away from making some very difficult decisions. We need someone with his character to lead us. That is why I wholeheartedly support him as our Governor.

I have been building homes for the people of Hawai‘i for the past three decades, and I am so glad that housing is a priority for Governor Ige and his Administration. Housing provides a critical foundation for our growing families today.

Governor David Ige had the vision to assemble a group of housing stakeholders like myself shortly after taking office. He listened to the concerns we raised and took action by working with the Legislature to infuse funding for rental housing and regional infrastructure like roads and water systems so that projects can begin to take shape.

Governor Ige is committed to partnering with the private sector and the counties to deliver more affordable homes in the near term future. That is what we, as a community, need.

My family and I have known David for a long time, and it is with pleasure that we support him in his re-election campaign.

David has a proven record of getting things done under difficult and trying circumstances, yet, he leads with dignity and respect. He has led the state with the spirit of Aloha, putting the needs of the people of Hawai’i first while working to instill a fair, honest, and transparent leadership.

I believe we need to continue this kind of leadership, and that is why I am proud to support David Ige for re-election.

Governor David Ige's thoughtful, deliberate vision is leading Hawai'i into the 21st Century. His even-keeled style is exactly what we need for these turbulent times.

Governor Ige stood up for Hawai‘i's values by fighting Donald Trump's ill-advised immigration bans. He fought for our environment by embracing the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, and he supported science, innovation, and technology to provide new opportunities for our keiki to prosper in Hawai'i.

Governor Ige advocated for improving learning conditions for students by cooling 1000 classrooms. He challenged the fossil fuel industry by saying "no" to imported, expensive, and polluting fracked gas. He stood up for our future by signing the nation's first 100% renewable energy requirement into law--making Hawai'i a model for the globe.

Governor Ige is 100% committed to Hawai'i. He is the leader we need to help lead us an exciting and prosperous future.

As an entrepreneur, I respect David's vision and thoughtful approach to our state's growing economy. His actions are sincere, and he has clearly demonstrated that everything he does is for the betterment of our state now and in the future.

I served with Governor Ige in the State Senate for eight years and worked side-by-side with him on improving our public educational system, investing in our renewable energy industry, modernizing our high technology infrastructure, and other statewide issues. During that time, the more I got to know him, the more I realized that he was one of the best and brightest Senators who always kept his word.

I have been impressed by watching him emerge as a strong and effective leader as Governor, yet maintain the same thoughtful and humble personality that he had as my colleague in the State Senate. I wholeheartedly support him as our Governor.

Having worked closely with the Governor on the Blueprint for Education, I was able to hear, first hand, how passionately he cares for our keiki and teachers in the State of Hawai’i.

From the 2016 Education Summit where over a thousand participants were able to share their ideas for education, to the town hall-style meetings, and showing his support for teachers in the final days of contract negotiations, he was there for us.

Governor Ige is our Education Governor. Please join me in supporting Governor Ige in 2018.

I have seen David Ige be a leader in many different capacities for 30 years, from the technology and telecommunications field to the State Legislature. Even today, I am thoroughly impressed with everything that he has accomplished for our State.

When I was the State School Superintendent, for decades there were many discussions about how we were going to improve schools, especially on the Leeward Coast where it is hot and humid. Many others came and talked about what they were going to do to help cool the classrooms, but Governor Ige was the first person who came up with an action-oriented plan. He organized financing, and installed air conditioners in classrooms. I understand there are nearly 1,300 classrooms at the moment that have air conditioning because of this. He kept his promise and more.

I have concluded that the best person for the job is already on the job, and I plan to support Governor David Ige for reelection. In my personal interactions with the Governor, I am very impressed with his wife and family. He is a family man and a humble leader for our State.

Governor Ige is a good, decent man and deserves a second term. He's accomplished amazing things – from education, environmental protection, kupuna care, and more. Over the years, I've gotten to know Governor and his wife, Dawn, through many Okinawan and Japanese community events. I know what they want for Hawaii, is what I want -- a place where our children can return home, secure high-earning jobs, and have a chance at building lives of their own

He's not a typical politician, he doesn’t conduct ‘backroom deals,’ and he may not be snazzy in front of the cameras. Instead, he is the leader we need -- honorable, hardworking, and humble, and someone who deeply cares for our families and the people of Hawai’i.

As a teacher of over 30 years, I can appreciate how hard David has worked. His collaborative style of leadership has produced great results. For decades, Hawaii’s children were forced to learn in sweltering classrooms. David promised to fix that, and so far he’s cooled more than 1,200 classrooms. Hawaii’s teachers were underpaid, so he fixed that too - giving our teachers a well-deserved pay raise. And, with college costs rising, David created a program to high schoolers to earn college credits for free. David Ige is an honest and trustworthy man. These are the reasons why I am voting for Governor Ige.
