David Yutaka Ige, born and raised in Pearl City, is the fifth of six sons of Tokio and Tsurue Ige. David's dad worked as a steelman on construction project and his mom worked as a nurse and dental assistant to support the family.
David attended the public schools in our community - Pearl City Elementary School, Highlands Intermediate School, and Pearl City High School. At Pearl City High School, David excelled in many activities. He served as Senior Class President and, in his junior year, as Student Body Vice President. David also led his varsity tennis team to a championship and was honored as the "Scholar-Athlete of the Year".
Sports and outdoor activities have been a major interest of David's, beginning with the eight years of playing in the Pearl City Little League. He played on four championship teams and was chosen "Most Inspirational" several times.
David currently lives in Royal Summit with his wife, Dawn, and his three children, Lauren, Amy, and Matthew.
After graduating fifth in his 1975 class at Pearl City High School, David attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. To help pay for college, David spent his summers working for the Del Monte pineapple cannery. While at the UH, David continued his efforts to serve his peers. He was Student Body Secretary and an officer of several honor societies as well as Treasurer and Vice-President of his fraternity, Phi Delta Sigma. Most importantly, UH is where David met his wife, Dawn.
David's family and friends say David can best be described as a life-long learner. While working for GTE Hawaiian Tel, David took graduate courses at the UH and earned a Masters of Business Administration degree in Decision Sciences. In 1986, Hawaii Business Magazine named David one of the university's Top Ten MBA Students. Today, David is Project Manager/Engineer at Robert A. Ige & Associates. David is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Pearl City Community Association, Newtown Estates Community Association, Pacific Century Fellows - Inaugural Class, and Pearl City High School Alumni Association.
