This joint informational briefing will outline the financial trends of Hawaii's hospitals, nursing facilities and home care and hospice providers. Specific information on the following will be addressed:
- Description of health services in Hawaii;
- Hawaii's hospitals' financial data and payment information;
- Significant costs for Hawaii's hospitals, including wages, medical education, community programs, charity care and bad debt, trauma care, waitlisted patients and prescription drugs;
- Long term care, home care and hospice issues;
- The impact of Medicaid, including DSH payments, the SCHIP Program and Quest expansion;
- Who pays for healthcare in Hawaii?
